Have you used your pregnancy as an excuse?

I am sooooooooo guilty Chat Icon
Yesterday I was coming home from work and the line to the light was really long. I had to make a right so I moved onto the shoulder when a cop stepped out into the road. (his car was in the forest...convienent) He asked me if I knew I was in the shoulder. I said "Yes I do BUT I am pregnant and I have to go to the bathroom soooooooo bad!"
I am so guilty but he let me go right away. I still find it kinda funny! Has anyone done anything lately?
My smaller events have been not having to carry ANYTHING! Its been nice so far.

it puts them in a hard situation bc realistically...what are they supposed to say? I sooooo quickly thought of it and as I drove off I was like "I can not believe I just did that!" I wonder what a tixx like that would cost!

Re: Have you used your pregnancy as an excuse?

are u kidding me - i would totally have played the same card!!!!

he said to me the other day that he has to let them go b/c if they are telling the truth it would be wrong to make them wait another 10 minutes - especially after seeing the way that i get when I HAVE TO GO!!! He would feel bad and he knows i would kill him if actually gave them a ticket!!

Well, I might be.

I'm a high school teacher and pregnant with twins.
If they give me lunch duty or any other duty where I'll be on my feet or have a lot of kids I don't know (you never know physical fighting can start) I'm asking out of it.

To be honest, I don't think it's asking much. If the school district was smart they wouldn't put a preggo on lunch duty.

Thats so funny because I just told DH that if I get pulled over in the near future I plan on starting to cry and saying "I am pg and I have to pee so bad" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

You ROCK! Chat Icon

I haven't gotten myself into this situation - but I am sure I would do exactly the same thing if I got pulled over or anything like that.

I find that more people make excuses FOR me. I am more of a "get it done" person, so I don't pull the preggo card when I should.

Like, one day at work, I dropped a bunch of stuff on the floor and went to pick it up. One of the other guys was like "don't worry - I got it". I surely could have picked it up myself, but I didn't stop the other guy from doing it for me!

Re: Have you used your pregnancy as an excuse?

Yup- I used it the other day to get on the first class line for check-in at the airport. Otherwise I would have waited in line for two hours without water. I didn't feel a bit a guilt at all.

Re: Have you used your pregnancy as an excuse?

Well, I don't change the litter box anymore, but I offered to get gloves and a mask to be able to do it. DH just said no.

I feel guilty using it as an excuse with DH. He works hard and thankfully I haven't felt sick so I don't want to complain just for the sake of complaining.

I also have continued to do things I enjoy (exercise, ride horses) and I don't want to have anyone say if I can do something esle strenuous for fun, I should be able to do something else not fun but equally hard.

Re: Have you used your pregnancy as an excuse?

No not at all. I wont use it as a disabiltiy! I wait like everyone else on the long arse lines to the ladies room, I bust my butt at work like everyone else, wont call in sick, still do household chores, etc.. Im the type of person where I dont like to use things or make up excuses. Its just me but I dont judge that do either. Chat Icon

as far as the litter- if the babys health is at risk thats a different story.

Re: Have you used your pregnancy as an excuse?

I haven't until last night when I used it to get out of a 24 hour shift. But it was totally legit - I'm totally burned out at work and I would have hurt either my baby or a patient.
