Beef defrosting question

Just wondering how long you can leave a steak marinating for in the fridge? I defrosted a steak yesterday and plan on eating it Friday is that too long?

that is way too long, IMO

I would say 2 days tops for it to be in the fridge before it's cooked.

3-4 days is usually okay. If you plan on not eating it for longer, then you can marinate it and then freeze it.

I wouldn't defrost longer than 2 days tops in the fridge.

but she already defrosted it. you can't re-freeze meat. that's asking for food poisoning.

Yikes! I didn't see that!!! I would say just chuck it if you don't eat it today!

If it was defrosted in the fridge, I read that it's ok to refreeze. I haven't done that but I heard it's ok. Another option would be cooking it now and then freezing it for later in the week. Otherwise, I go by the two day rule which puts you at Friday.

Re: Beef defrosting question

I would cook it within the next day or so. Then it could stay in your fridge for a few more days.
