How do you know when it is time to go up a size in diapers?
He leaks through his diapers everynight and durning his naps when he lays down DH thinks he needs a bigger size, he is in size 1. Durning the day he wears huggies and at night I put swaddlers (DH brought cases of huggie diapers from work even though I told him not to because I wasnt sure if the diapers would work for us, but he didnt beleive me, thats why I use two brands).

I would say that if the leaks happen everynight, try out the bigger ones. I knew Ryan was ready for a bigger size because of the leaks and that they just looked too small for him. They do sell pads that go in the diaper that are very absorbant to prevent leaks which I am thinking about buying because Ryan does have some leaks at night and is not ready for size 3's yet. But in your situation, try the bigger ones.. if they are too big you will always use them later.

Leaking usually means you are ready to go up a size.
As DD got older (size 4+) I always ended up putting a larger size diaper for night time and it seemed to work better. I even used the Huggies nighttime diapers but they only make them in sizes 4 and 5. Now I put Goodnights on her for overnight.

I always move DS up a size when he starts leaking. The leaks occur during the night or naps. So I would recommend you moving up to size 2. Buy a small package first and give it a try. I know my DS skipped size 2 and went right into size 3. Good luck!
