I just read that it is the nose gear and they are planning an emergency landing at Long Beach they don't know more about the flight yet. I have numerous friends who are flight attendents with Jet Blue so please next time please put more of the story. Because I freaked out till I could find more on it.

Yeah, there are other Long Beach's. Sorry for any confusion. Figured people would know since Jet Blue flies their daily and no airport. I'm not on LI right now so I guess I didn't assume it was NY. Sorry for the confusion

That's ok It actually made sense that it would be here because we are so close to JFK - about 10 miles away. Although, I don't know how/where a plane would land here!

I'm so freaking out for my friend because that is her regular route and also because of Dh's occupation I know this isn't going to be an easy task for the pilot due to the degree of the gears. The news is reporting it is dumping fuel but I believe the Airbus is unable to do that so I guess he is trying to burn it off as much as he can unless I'm wrong.. which could be true.
I've seen landings like this before but in much smaller planes and they are not fun and not too pretty.

Yeah - this is really scary!! They are mistakenly reporting that they're dumping fuel, but they can't. It totally scares me anytime I see pics of airplanes on TV
This was also a JFK bound flight - has to be a lot of NY'ers on the plane!

That landing was INCREDIBLE!!!! I literally had tears in my eyes and was clapping at the TV!!! Those pilots are worth their weight in GOLD!

My friend is a flight attendant on JB - but she rarely flies to the west coast. I was so scared she was on that flight (still haven't gotten in touch with her).  Thankfully it landed safely!!!

i mean, of course to the passengers, but to be on all the news stations and all?

I think it's a very big deal!! That plane could have exploded on impact, it could have had a crash landing in a very populated area...I think it's amazing how it ended!

it is a big deal, especially when they show it on t.v. i know if I was on that plane it would be a big deal to me.

I agree. That could have gone so wrogn so many ways. It is good to know that they were able to produce the best possible outcome for everyone.
