Oil - those with capped price or lock in rate
Did you have to pay a fee to lock in your capped price?
They want $98.00 to reserve 980 gallons for the heating season. I remember I had to do it last eyar too, but forget what the cost was, I am sure it was less.
Anyone else?
oh and our cap price is $2.59

We didn't have to pay a fee to reserve the price. We did pay $100 for a service plan though with Meehan. We also locked at 2.59.

Re: Oil - those with capped price or lock in rate
How long ago did you guys lock in at $2.59? We just locked in a week or 2 ago and it was $2.79!!! We didn't have to pay a fee for the lock in, just a fee for the service contract. I was unsure as to whether I wanted to sign or not - I thought maybe rates might go down a little again (wishful thinking?), but I guess it's good we did since we are having them come out today b/c our house smells like oil. UGH!

Re: Oil - those with capped price or lock in rate
I just capped my price at 3.25 gallon, if I wanted to lock in it would have been 2.99 a gallon. I felt I was better off with capping than to lock in at that price for a year, especially if we have a mild winter or the refineries are up and running within the year. BTW, I had to stay with this company this year because I have an old (but excellent) heating system and they are the only ones that service it.

we signed a 1 year contract in may and locked in at $2.01 or $2.11 (i forget). at the time, i thought that was really high. we used to be at $1.39 w/ slomins.

We don't have to pay any fee. We have been using the oil company for 9 years and my parents (who owned the home originally) used them for awhile before that. I locked in $2.29/gallon until April and our bills have been $143/month. I have budget and pay all year long.
