How much did you spend or do you intend to spend on crib bedding?

I'm going back and forth over how much I should really spend on bedding. My heart says get the bedding I want and screw the $$$, but my head is telling me otherwise.

For those who spent more than $500 on baby bedding, do you have any regrets?

For something that the baby is going to be spitting up on, having accidents on, and drooling on, I can't see spending more then a a couple $100 for bedding for the crib.

originally i was going to get plain sheets and pick out material for my mother to custom make all the accessories as i am really not a fan of the moderately priced sets out there. i also don't like the concept of the "sets" in general.

however, we are running out of time and i found a good deal on a set that i am not 100% in with, but i can live with...

my mom's point was that once gets older all of the stuff is going to change rapidly, so there is no point in spending soooo much now if one doesn't have the extra cash to spend.

Thank goodness I found my bedding half off when Forever Young was closing... usually it is $400 I probably wouldn't have gotten it if we had to pay full price.

I sort of feel like I got a bargain... I paid $200.

The bedding I chose costs $250, and I added it to my registry for anyone who's feeling generous.

My bedding for both babies was less than $200. I can't see spending more.

ETA: by the time I got all the matching accessories, like a lamp, wall hangings, pillows, diaper stacker, window valences, I definitely spent more than $500. It adds up quickly depending on how "coordinated" you go, so keep that in mind. That's why I didn't go overboard on bedding itself.

I found my dream bedding which normally retails for $1000 for $500- and i just couldn't do it. I felt the same way as PP- the beautiful hand made blanket will never be used in the crib... and the baby is going to drool, spit up and go to the bathroom on this stuff... I didn't want to wokry about ruining something so nice and expensive.

Our bedding was $189 and included a valance for the window. Our mattress was $120.

LOL, I bought a sheet, a mattress pad and a dust ruffle. So, errr $50. I wasn't going to use either a bumper or comforter for safety reasons so the sets didn't make sense. I had to stop using the dust ruffle after 9 months also once the crib was lowered.

If your heart is set on something and you can afford it, go for it. I bought an $800 glider and ottoman because it was a part of the image in my head of the perfect nursery.

However, if that $500 is the difference between getting a second stroller or not, I wouldn't do it.

This is yet another thing I argued over with my mother. Never take your mom to register! She kept picking out these 800 dollar bedding sets. I was like, HELLO, she's going to puke and pee on it! So I finally found a set that is around 200 I think. I didn't see the point in getting anything more expensive.

I got mine on line and only spent $200 for all bedding incl a mobile, wall hangings, lamp, valence, diaper stacker etc. I think to spend hundreds of dollars on something that is going to get spit up on, stained and out grown is silly. JMO.

The set I want is from target and I think if I buy all the accessories it will be around 130 or so.

That's fine with me. I can't see spending crazy $$ on something that is going to get messed over and over again!
