Why must parents be.........(sorry needed to vent)

mean? I am one of three children and I am the oldest. My other siblings live in other states, not close by. So when there are holidays, long weekends, I am expected to entertain them. I have my own family and love and adore my family time! My parents almost NEVER come to my house. We always have to go to theirs. I've invited them over and over again and they always have an excuse, but on the same token they'll say (why don't you guys come here instead). It's not like they don't see their grandkids. They see them every single day (they watch them for us while we are at work).

I invited them over yesterday for a BBQ early in the morning. They didn't come. Why must I leave the comfort of my home just to entertain them in theirs? Ugh.........it just pisses me off that they can be so inconsiderate. My mother told me after I invited them to my house for a BBQ, well when we first got married, we were alone. Then we had children and we weren't alone anymore. Then our children left and we're right back to being alone. *** was that supposed to mean? This is something I've been struggling with for forever, and today I am just not in the mood for this stupidity!!!

Sorry I just needed to vent.

I can somewhat understand what you are going through. My dad lives a few blocks away and never comes over when invited. he expects us to go there and just sit around.
