Hello all, I am almost 6 mos. pregnant and last night I found out a secret that my family has been hiding from me, because I have anxiety disorder and am pregnant. My father has prostate cancer, that is not the whole story, he has known for 6 months and has 3 options and STILL has not picked one. I had to call in sick today, b/c I haven't slept one minute last night and can't stop crying. Does anyone know about this type of cancer? I hear that it is curable but he hasn't gone back to the Dr. yet, I don't even know what to say to him, he is scared, but that is being sooo selfish of him not to go at all. I am trying so hard to calm down, but I can't, I hope and pray I am not hurting my baby during all this, Thanks girls, I am going to try to rest now.

Please, you need to get some rest for you and your baby! Im sure you are very worried about your dad but you will do no good to either of you if you get sick also!!

I actually know two people who have had prostate cancer and are fully recovered. They did catch it early and received radiation treatment (with seeds). Hope everything turns out okay.

I know 3 people also - two have survived (also caught early) and are in remission for 10+ years, the third is going through treatment now. I'm not sure of the details of their treatment. I know one involved freezing sperm (he was only in his early 20s). The third person, a co-worker, is going through rounds of tests. Unfortunately his cancer was diagnosed very late.

first I am so sorry to hear this- but you should talk to him- he needs to take care of this- I think everyone will feel better once he does

this isn't something to think about for too long- the sooner he takes care of it the better the outcome will be

i'm sorry to hear about your dad but in all, you really do need to rest not only for your health because you're 6 month pregnant but also for the baby as well. you don't wanna go in distress and have complications i know that you are worried about your dad but i'm sure he will come to a decision on what to do sorry i can't tell you if prostate cancer is curable or not but i'm sure GOD will take care of him he's in my hoping he'll get better

My Uncle had it and is doing fine after surgery.

He just has to make a choice and its very cureable.

First off --- you need to take care of yourself and your baby.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I believe that Prostate Cancer has a VERY high survival rate if caught in the earlier stages. Talk to your dad and tell him he must get this taken care of, if not for himself then for his grandchild that is on the way. Men can be very weird about the doctors sometimes.

My friends father just found out last week that he has prostate cancer and he will be receiving radiation for the next couple of weeks.

My fil ahd the radiation with seeds and he is fine. Please have your father get this taken care of asap.

first of all im soo sorry however
prostate cancer is one of teh most curable cancers especailly if that caught it early. my father has high prostate levels and the have to keep a watchful eye on him. U must tell ur dad to take action.!!. im sorry FM me if u need to talk

stay positive...both of my grandmother's had prostate cancer and both beet it.

I will keep your father in my thoughts and prayers! You definitely need to take care of yourself and your baby. Talk to your dad to take advantage of the best treatment that will last the longest.
