Kitchen lighting help needed

Can anyone post pics or explain what they did as far as their kitchen lighting goes? Task lighting? Under cabinet lighting? I dont know what I need. We will have an island in addition to our regular counter space along the walls. Our renovations begin next week and I want to be ready with what I want.

If we updated our kitchen lighting I would want to add recesed pot lights in the ceiling. However, we have a well lit kitchen with natural light. If it was a darker kitchen I would want flush mount undercabinet task lighting.
When we moved in I changed the fixture over the kitchen table to something more our taste, so I would still do that. I would also add a light under the stove hood if you did not have one there already.

I have under cabinet lighting (in addition to ceiling fixtures and highhats) and i HIGHLY recommend it. It makes it nice and bright when you are preparing food on the counter in the evening, plus, it looks pretty!

We designed my cabinets and work spaces and then we figured out where high hats should be placed.

What I have:

larger fixture centered over table
separate highhat over laundry area
separate high hat over kitchen sink
under the cabinet lighting
5 high hats that are strategically placed so that they are in line with the cabinets.

We ripped out the ugly looking fluorescent bar lights... and installed recessed hihats.

Looks way better! Much brighter too considering each light is a 125W bulb.

I have a lot of lighting my kitchen.
We have recessed lighting with a dimmer switch.
A fan with a light in the center of the kitchen.
Under the cabinet lights which we also have on each shelf of our glass cabinet.
Above the cabinet lights which is a rope light.

We had hi hats installed....made a HUGE difference!!! We could have also done under-cabinet lighting, but it's not as necessarily so we decided to save the money.

We also have a ceiling fan with 3 bulbs in the center of the room.

we have hi-hats, pendant lights over our pennisula, and under cabinet lighting.

We have high hats, under cabinet lighting and lighting in the glass cabinets.

We don't have any under cabinet lighting. We just have high hats, and a light under our microwave that is mounted above my stove.
