my favorite was little index cards where you write your tips for a happy marriage.

then they put them in a basket, picked some out and the ones they read aloud (people wrote their names on them) got a little favor

I love when you have the Bride and Groom play the Newlywed Game. You ask them questions about each other separately and then see if they answer correctly. Very Funny!

you could mail the recipe cards to each person, and then have them mail them back or have a binder with slots waiting at the shower and present to the bride then.


What about a "Good Start" basket?
a cookbook, some basic cooking utensils, an apron, measuring cups and spoons, a gift card to a supermarket, one of those household books that advises on uses of different stuff, how to get stains out, etc. and you could extend it to include (or do separately) cleaning supplies, mop, swiffer dusters, rubber gloves, books on organizing, cleaning, and/or decorating

A Memories basket....
disposable camera/waterproof one for the HM, a photo album, some photo frames,a gift card to a place where they can be developed OR...if they do scrapbooking a blank book with themed stickers...like wedding, travel, etc.

a Luxury basket
cushy towels, massage lotions, aromatherapy, bubble baths, eye mask, maybe one of those foot massager things, a book on couples massage (or if you dare...."positions" or that could be in the honeymoon basket)

My MOH did...

A recipe book but also asked each guest to bring a non-perishable ingredient (mostly spices) for each recipe. She collected them all in a really nice basket. I'll try to find a picture.

Anniversary Cards- She distributed blank cards to each one of my bridal shower guests and asked them to write a Happy First Anniversary card to us. My MOH then recollected them and will be sending them to us soon... we will get about 30 cards

Round the house gift- Her gift to us consisted of several gifts each wrapped in a separate box to go in various rooms of the house. For example, diningroom- tablecloths, napkin rings; livingroom- picture frame and photo album; office- a stamp with our address and nice stationary; bedroom- lingerie. Can't remember the others.

She also pre-addressed all of my thank you note envelopes This was such a help and I was able to write all of my 30 thank yous the next day.

One of my BM made me a thank-you card basket. She printed up a set of labels with all those invited, put them on envelopes with stamps, all I had to do was write out the cards. It was a HUGE help with all of the last minute planning I had going on.

The Candle Poem - FM me if you want me to send it to you. I did it for both of my SILs. Also instead of a Wishing Well you could do a themed one like a Honeymoon Wishing Well or a Bar Themed Wishing Well. HTH!

Im hosting one tomorrow
We are doing games, I made a collage of my fsil and brother from the past till now.
My sister made a really nice "sign in board" where people can write thier wishes.
We are also doing the "Cleaning" Poem.

the candle poem basket is cute - i have done that.....also a towel and bath goodies cake is fun (have done that as well!) - except if you are my aunt who three years later still has hers in the cellopahne b/c "its too nice to undo"
