New Roof & Siding

So we got 3 estimates. 2 of the roof estimates were EXACTLY the same..lol
We found a place that will do both, and we only have to pay for the roof now, and then we have 12 months at 0% and no payments if we wanted (we would make payments though)

Its over 10,000 to do both, but we like the company and the way they do things. We would rather pay a little more to get the quality..

What did/are you paying for a new roof and/or siding

Who are you going to be using? We just started getting quotes for a new roof. So far only 1 quote and we have another coming on Tues.

we are doing the siding ourselves(well my Dad)....it isnt that hard i have been watching him..........it only cost $2,800 in materials
Is there anyone in your family who knows how to do siding??

Nope--we dont know anyone. We have to $$ to do it. We have been putting it aside bc we knew we wanted to do this before the winter came.....

I fet most at ease with the person from this company, but I do not know if we are paying too much because its ALOT of money

I guess it all depends on what you are doing, brands and how big your house is but 10,000 doesn't sound outrageous at all to do both. I had mine done awhile ago and it was more than that. I can't remember the break down because we did siding, roof, windows and doors all at once. I know roof alone quotes were anywhere from 4500-8000. Siding alone I thought was in 10,000 range as well. We got quotes that were different up to 10,000 for the total job. We went with a mid to higher priced company because we felt most comfortable with them and had the money saved for this project and wanted the best work done. We found some of the lower priced companies work wasn't as good if you looked at houses they did 5 years ago or so.

My DH does this stuff for a living... over $10k is not bad (of course depending on the size of your house!) If you are using asphalt shingles for the roof that should be relatively cheap. If you are using vinyl siding the inital cost is pretty high (again depending on the size of your house) but the materials are not cheap. Labor to install vinyl is easy work!

My DH just installed vinyl siding on a house. He removed 40 squares of existing siding, resheated the house and installed new vinyl for $25,000, labor and materials.

Wow!! So it isnt much!! Our house only has 3 walls, bc we are attached to the next house with our garages. Its a TH, but we dont have a committee or anything, so we can change the house. We are going for the Arcitectual Roof because we think it looks nicer.

Here is a picture of our house..just the front. The side of our house is HUGE so that will take some siding

def. a good price. we have an extended ranch and just got a new roof- peel job- and new siding/soffets, gutters and leaders... the works!

I cost us just under 13,000. We got several estimates and we went with the best quaility for the better price... for a ranch ours was kinda expensive bc of the size of our soffets... apparently they are ridiculously huge!
