Some feeding questions?????????????????
So the deal with Jacob is that I started the organic fruits and apples made him gassy, so i stopped those. Moved to pears, those seem to be fine. Waited 4 days went to banana's... he began night waking all night with bad gas, so i stopped those... Are banana's known to cause gas? I know they cause constipation but not sure of the gas... I still have to try peaches.
Yesterday i went back to pears, and gave him a little organic rice cereal with breakfast. He seemed to be ok. But last night he slept from 8pm-2am.. woke cause he was soaked (still cant find a damn diaper that doesnt leak) and he went back to sleep but kept waking every half hr from about 4:30am till 7am. He didnt seem to have gas... so i dont know if it was the cereal or just a fluke thing. so confusing. I gave the cereal again this morning.. so i guess we'll see tonight. I'm so scared to give him cereal more than once a day. This is so crazy.
Also, he will be 6 months in 2 weeks, and when i feed him the fruits he doesnt seem interested. Is that normal? He wont open his mouth, ( i keep trying, and sometimes he opens it but mostly not) he keeps his lips shut and turns his head away. So i stop and then try again later. I can only get a few spoonfulls in. Nothing like most babies where they eat like half a jar or a whole jar. I havent even gotten to vegatables yet, and i am like freaking out about that cause i know veggies can be VERY GASSY! Plus he doesnt even seem to like fruits, i'm sure veggies taste like azz. At this rate I'll be lucky if he gets to eat any table food by the time he is 1. I have an appt next week with the GI doc, so maybe he can shed some light on this. I'm so at my wits end...

Re: Some feeding questions?????????????????
so sorry you have so much to deal with. Tons of HUGS to you....
About the fruits vs veggies... to be honest with you, my DS will only eat Veggies. He can't stand fruits, he makes funny faces and then clamps down his jaw so I can't put it in. With the Veggies, he is always willing to open and moans at me if I don't get it in fast enough. So maybe luck will be on your side for once and you DS will enjoy his Veggies.
Prayers for you

I say try the vegetables, nothign drastic, sweep potatos and carrots are good starters. You might want to give his tummy a little time to get used to aall the new food befor writing it off completely.
Have you tried giving him Mylicon drops int he mean time?

Re: Some feeding questions?????????????????
Miranda was like Jacob with the AR (not quite as bad but bad enough) It took her forever to show a real interest in solids and to this day does not eat like most babies her age. She went from the 25th to the 10th to the 5th and now to the 3rd percentile for weight because this child does not like to eat large amounts of food or drink big bottles and I really think its her bodies way of know how much will make her start spitting up. I FINALLY got her taking 6oz bottles again but it took forever. Try not to stress yourself about the solids. Remember his vitamins, nutrients and main source of calories and overall nutrition is the formula. Solids are to teach him tastes and texture and there is plenty of time for that. A lot of babies that have AR have sensory issues so there is the possibility Jacob may not like the smell or texture of what you are feeding him which is why he isn't taking to it. Just keep trying, one day he might suprise you but definitely don't make yourself crazy over solids.
