Winthrop Univ. Hospital vs North Shore
Hi There Ladies!!
I'm a seasoned LIW member, but I've transitioned to this site b/c it's never to early to start planning!
I have a question about the hospitals b/c I have a GYN who is affiliated ONLY w/ North Shore, but I was really impressed with Winthrops facilities on their website.
I was thinking of switching GYN's b/c of it...is it worth it?? Please help b/c I'm so not sure what to do.

These hospitals seem to be the top 2 maternity hospitals in Nassau County.
They are both wonderful hospitals so I think no matter what you choose you will be in wonderful hands. I delivered at Winthrop. They have a top notch NICU in case God forbid something happens. They are extremely busy (they had 40 something babies in the nursery when I delivered last year and over 50 when I visited my friend 2 weeks later). I thought the Labor and Delivery nurse was the most caring woman and I LOVE my OB/GYN.
Their security is pretty tight on the maternity floor and my husband had to leave by 10pm each night.
I have heard wonderful things about North Shore Manhasset also.
Since I LOVE my doctor so much if she would have been affiliated with either hospitals I know I would be taken care of wonderfully in each!

Unfortunetly I just lost my job today due to layoffs but I did work for a wonderful GYN if you need a recommendation for one that is affiliated with Winthrop. FM if you want info.

When looking for Gyno I looked for on that was affiliated with Winthrop! I go to Dr. Jennifer Hanauer in Garden City and she is GREAT. If you do a search you will so so many people who goto her!
But I think North Shore is a great system!

I delivered at Nortn Shore and I was very happy with my experience there.

I also deliverd at Winthrop and at first thought their security was a little over the top but once I had DS I was happy the way it was. THey are very strict but the service was great!

I delivered @ North Shore- they were WONDERFUL! Not 1 problem everyone was very attentive and nice! Everything went smoothly and the rooms were nice too.

NSUH has a level 4 NICU, the best there is.
Also my friend was a nurse in there. People specifically want to give birth at NS cause of their NICU, just in case.

ETA: My friend's baby was born with a problem and they were amazing, he is fine today at 3 yrs old!

I prefer Winthrop, but my OB/Gyn is affiliated with both, All of my doctors are affiliated with Winthrop.
