This is a horrible situation! I'm so sorry! I only read this now - but I hope everything goes OK. If this guy knows where you and your Mom live, I suggest NOT being there when he gets home because you know he's going to head there -looking for her.
I hope this works out OK and everyone is SAFE!!

UPdate today- 9/30
So it went smoothly...she dropped him at the train station and came home, the movers and my Mom were there and she was in the new place by 2:30....She left him a letter so he knows shes not dead somewhere.
She works for a Govt. Agency so the good news is he cannot get on the property where she works without a badge and its highly guarded.
They went to the police station this am. The police advised my Mom NOT to come home this weekend, and we will be keeping an eye out over there at her place for her..
The police can now serve him with orders of protection, they couldnt till she left because he would have been aware of what was going on.
We figure its about NOW he will be getting off the train from work, and he will have to take a cab home, he has no-one else but her, and then we have to wait and see what happens.
I was literally looking all around when I got home just now and that makes me sad that I have to live in fear.
Although I HATE him , I wish pain on no one and I know hes going to lose his mind, and hopefully get the help he needs from all this.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers, your all amazing for praying for people you dont know, and I appreciate it more then I could express!!!

Oh my gosh..I am so sorry..what an awfully scary thing to go through...he needs a psych evaluation QUICK..could someone call his boss and tell him/her whats going on..all someone has to do is call the police, say that hes making threats to harm your family and the police should take him into an emergency room for a psych eval. they may find him suicidal, etc and possibly he can be diagnosed and hospitalized. He sounds incredibly sick and sounds like he needs some serious meds...
I will say many, many prayers for you and your family...I am grateful that your aunt found the strength to leave him...I left a very abusive relationship in the same way..when he went to work..I left..I was terrified..but did ok! I will pray that your aunt is ok!! Please keep us posted!!!

Oh Donna,
What an awful situation. It seems like your family and aunt have done all they could for this man. At some point self-preservation must take priority and I applaud your aunt and family's strength.
It is truly tragic but your aunt and your family deserve to live a peaceful life.
So far I think she's made all of the right moves and shouldn't feel at all guilty for her actions.
I pray for your aunt, your family and this terribly sick man

So far so good, and much better then expected. He tried to find her last night, calling friends whose #'s he had that he was going to kill himself. He called his elderly mom, who is a nut as well, and SHE WAS calling these people saying my Aunt left him with nothing, took all the money. Which was not true. HEr lawyer advised her how much money to the $ to leave him, she left a fridge worth of food etc...
She had like 15 messages from him by this am, but she couldnt listen, my Mom did and said for the most part the anger hasnt set in, he was near hysterical, and screaming but mostly crying, say he would kill himself, then he thought he was having a stroke, and was begging her to come take him to the hospital...stuff like that.
We are praying THIS is as bad as it gets, but only time can tell. Right now hes in shock, when he gets more resourceful is when we will still worry some.
Thanks for thinking of us, I do really appreciate it...

How horribly scary for your whole family. Thank God your Aunt had the courage to leave - alot of women just stay and end tortured the rest of their lives...or worse. I hope and pray she doesnt weaken and go back. Im sure he will try all kinds of tactics to get her back. Is your Aunt seeing a Domestic Abuse officer and/or counsellor? B/c they will help her stay strong and know the patterns. I do hope for his own sake he gets help. Your Aunt is lucky to have such a supportive family. Good luck to all of you.

Donna -- When I saw today's Newsday I though of you and your aunt. She may be interested in seeing the article. Let me know if you need it (about women who get up the courage to leave abusive relationships).

Just read this and the first thing I have to say is .
Then, has she contacted the coalition for domestic violence. It sounds like she is doing everything right but they have a lot of support services. I have some numbers and a handbook for victims. If you are interested FM me.
Second, if you are worried about his well being ( and it sounds like the Saint you are..you are), you can call 911, tell them that he has a h/o emotional problems and that he has left suicidal messages. They will send an ambulance and take him to an ER for psych eval, whihc in the end would probably be the best thing for everyone.
