cat and litter box

I have three cats, and all of a sudden one of them started to go number 2 outside the litter box. But she does pee in the litter box. im confused. We took her to the vet to get checked, nothing wrong with her.
So now 2x a day i have to go clean it. Thank god she does it only in the laundry room in the basement.
I have not changed the litter or anything.

I have 3 cats too and one of them is going #2 also next to the litter box on the carpet, I'm getting so fustrated!! My DH did switch the litter so maybe thats it, but they never did this before so weird?? Thankgod there litterbox is in our basement, so we dont have to smell it.

I have two cats and two litter boxes. I was advised by my vet to have more than one to avoid the situation you are experiencing. If you don't already have a second one, I think that may help. Also, I change the litter every week.

I only have one cat and he does this... if we don't put our clean laudry away on time, he would go in there and leave us a present...

He's almost 9, could it be the old age?

thanks for all the suggestions. We have 2 litter boxes, nothing changed she just started to go. Maybe she is getting older and that has something to do with it.
