If the company you buy from has no stores or does not do business in NY then you can't be taxed. If they do have a store anywhere in NY you have to pay tax.

NYS is craking down on that. They are requiring that sales of all items shipped to NY pay a sales tax. There's now a line on personal tax returns where you enter what you should have paid or they conveniently have a minimum calculation based on your income. The calculation comes out to something reasonable if you are an internet shopper that most people probably just pay that.

They do have a storefront... I think. I was just wondering about taxing the shipping charges. Its a store in NY (brooklyn actually)
