My DH brought his verizon phone to Mexico when we went on our HM and it didn't work...He could never get through he would always just get a spanish recording...I would call verizon and ask

You need to contact the cell phone company if you want service over there. It will probably cost you too. You can rent a cell phone over there also.

I know for cingular it depends on your phone. I would call verizon and ask them.... or go into one of the stores... they should be able to let you know.

Chances are it wont work but I think the major carriers rent them.

At work when we have people travel oversees, we call up an add international to their cell plans. We take it off when they return. Maybe see if you can do that?

i've rented international cell phones from travelcell
they will mail it to you b4 u go and then u mail it back to them when u come home.

1. You need a different charger. You can buy one overseas but they aren't cheap.
2. Verizon doesn't offer international until you have been under contract for a certain amount of time (I forget how long) and even then it takes them some time to set you up the first time.
3. Cingular has phones that work overseas (be sure to check this out because most phones are not usabels overseas, must be international models) and you can sign up immediately for international call in g FROM overseas. But best bet is to go in to one of the stores.

Or as others recommended -- rent there.

It won't work. They have special phones that you can rent that work overseas. Check with your phone carrier, they can tell you more about it. I wanted to use my cell when I went to Europe, but I couldn't.

You need to call your cell phone carrier.

DH has t-mobile and he bought a specific phone to use in Europe and Asia. He's able to use the same sim card in that phone as well as his regular phone. The phone works here too, but he's not happy w/the battery life, so he only uses it when he's out of the country. I think he needed to sign up for a different contract, too.

The phone worked in China, the Netherlands and Austria, but oddly, not in Japan.

Sometimes you can receive calls, but basically it doesn't work overseas.

it wont work. also even if you bring your charger and an adapter make sure you can plug it in and it says 50-60 Hz ans 100-240 V. if it doesnt say that, you could have problems plugging it in. i did it once with a hairdryer and it blew up in my hand.

rent a phone, it is probably easier unless you know someone that has a phone that can work overseas and you could slip a prepaid sim card in it. most US phones are locked, though.
