Re: BTDT Mom's of boys. PT question
I introduced the potty at almost 2 years old but didnt really start training until he was almost 3. Once Sammy decided he wanted to do it i, it took 2 months until he was fully trained. I just cant get him to stay dry at night and he is almost 4. Dont push it when theyare ready they will be trained.

Re: BTDT Mom's of boys. PT question
We started about 2. He did well for awhile and then showed no interest. We worked on it for a year. When he was 3, I told him that he had to give up his pull-ups & had to be potty trained to take swimming lessons.
I thinhk the best way to handle it is to go cold turkey on the pull-ups. Also for daycare, what they did was put underwear under the pull-ups so they could feel uncomfortable.

Re: BTDT Mom's of boys. PT question
We started with my son when he was about 2 1/2, nothing too structured since he wasnt showing any of the signs of being ready. He would occasionally pee in the potty but definitely not into doing it. We tried again more as he approached 3 and he was still not into it, it was kind of frustrating b/c none of the suggestions I received seemed to work. About a month or so after he turned 3, he just took to it one day and never stopped. He trained so fast, its still surprising to me and its been over 6 months. BTW, even at that point he never showed all the so-called signs of being ready (he was more than happy to sit in a poop diaper) but my DH suggested he wear underwear one day (which we had also done in the past with no luck) and he said Yes and never stopped peeing in the potty since. About 1 1/2 - 2 weeks later, he started pooping in the potty as well.
ETA: I agree about not pushing them. It was my experience that he was just ready and that was it, nothing I could have done beforehand would have changed that.
