ear piercing for a baby
at what age can a baby get their ears pierced? can it be done in the hospital at time of birth?

it is recommended that it be done after the first series of vaccinations.

Yeah, my pediatrician just told me yesterday that it's OK from 4 months up until about a year. 4 months because that's after the baby's immune system is more developed and after the tetanus vaccination; after one year, the baby's fine motor skills are developed to the point where she can pull the earrings out, so it's a good idea to wait for several years if it hasn't been done by then.

That exactly what our pediatrician told us. So I had my daughters ears pierced at 4 months.

oh thats great. my dh said cant they do it at the hospital when they give shots and I didnt think so. so between 4 months and 1 year and after that wait until about 6 or 7 years old. awesome thanks.
