Why would my cat pee on the carpet?

I came home from work today and notices a long wet area on the carpet with lots of hair. At first I thought maybe she had some poopies stuck on her tush and tried to rub it off on the carpet, but when I got a paper towel to clean it it was yellow and very wet.

She's never done that before and she behaving and eating normally. Her litter box is cleaned daily.

I'm so confused.

When my cat started with her urinary tract issues she peed outside the litter box. First time in 11 years she did that. I would keep an eye on her. If you see anything different in her bathroom habits or it happens 2-3x more I would take her to the vet to get checked out!

Are you sure it wasn't a hairball? My cat throw-up is kind of yellow with the hairball. Sorry if TMI.

Also, we did have one kitty that peed on our furniture last year. It was partially a urinary tract and also because we moved and he was "marking" his territory.

I would say Urinary Tract Infections. Sometimes, I think they need to do something like that as a cry for help.

My cat, who has UTI's often will sometimes come into the kitchen and pee on the floor while looking at us and meowing loudly. Then we know something has to be done.

If you are worried about it, take her to the vet, but also we keep a Feliway thingy in the plug in the hallway, it really does work when she is feeling under the weather.

I guess it could be a hairball since there was so much hair in the area, but it could very well be a UTI. I'll watch her and see if anything changes. Will she meow when peeing if its a UTI? She always "announces" before she goes to the bathroom, but never peeps during.

I came home yesterday to find that my cat peed on our couch, when I went into the laundry room where the litter box was and she pooped just outside the box instead of inside it. This is the first time she's ever done anything like this and she's 6 years old. Thankfully I have vet appointment anyway for her next week, so I'll ask the vet.
