I just bought old school black pennyloafers!
They are so cute for work with argyle socks or even the fishnet socks!!!! I am such an inner prep.

I agree...I don't think they were ever "trendy" or "faddish", but more classic.
Spend a little time in CT and a lot of women are sporting loafers/driving mocs and a barn jacket. I actually feel very "Long Islandy" when I'm in heels.

Very true. My very "NY" SIL moved to CT and now wears the attire you describe
