even though I am no where near ready for a baby- I have already decided to store them
I lost my Mom to cancer- and she needed a stem cell transplant- thanks to our president- she could only use her own stem cells- that were radaited and put back in her- needless to say - it didn't work
you never know what the future will bring

We are not ready for children yet either, but we are going to store the cord blood...we are hoping that the president  will not ban it all together, DH's mother died of Huntingtons Disease and there is no cure...through research and stem cells they have cured it in mice....we pray everyday for a miracle because we would like to have our own children.

I am still not sure about this.
It's about 1800-1900 for the first year w/ collection and then $150 thereafter.
I'm going to speak with my doctors (OB/GYN and my regular doc- his daughter just had a baby & I'm curious about what she did)
we don't really have anything that runs in the family- so that is a plus- it's just such an emotional decision to make.

So to keep it for yourself has a fee but you can donate it for others with no fee? I am just curious. It is something DH would have to talk seriously about when the time comes.

Since I got diagnosed with a "brain tumor" (which we now know was a wrong diagnosis) we decided to go ahead and do it. You just NEVER know where life is going to lead and when you or your child might need it.
