The cover of Newsday
says that 12 miners were found alive.
I saw on Fox News Channel that all 13 were found dead.
What's the deal?

The Today show said that 12 were dead, 1 was in ICU.

therer was wrong information overheard and said, therefore the papers have a misprint
so sad

I'm watching CNN right now - they're going over the lives of the victims.
I can't believe the age of most of them - all but 2 were 50 and above. What a work ethic....
A 28 yr old died - he had 3 daughters and was just working in the mines for extra money while his wife was working on a masters degree.
And a 27 yr old was the sole survivor...the youngest guy in the mine.

so sad, my hubby and I were watching when they announced they were alive around midnight, but then i woke up at 4am and the news was differnt, we stayed up and watched unti we had to get up with the kids at 7. i feel so bad for these families.

I feel horrible for those poor families. This also goes to show why I do not like 24 hour news media ~ this horrific mine accident just highlights the problems of a 24 hour news cycle. I was watching last night as they were running around the town, congratulating the people and spreading joy. My heart broke when I woke up this morning and saw that 12 of the 13 miners were dead. The news media were basing their reports on what families were saying -- they NEVER had official word that the miners were alive. Since when do passerbys count as official sources? They spread incredibly false information around the world and raised the hope of that whole town, meanwhile, their loved ones were trapped dead in a mine. What a farce the media is, they should all be fined and be forced to go to reporting school. Those poor families, what a tragedy.

At midnight they gave the families the same info- 12 alive. At 3 am they told them the correct info - 1 alive and 12 gone. Those poor families.
