Getting Rid of Books

I have a whole bunch of books that I need to get rid ofChat Icon

I really don't want to, but DH said that I can't buy anymore because we have no room!! So, in order to buy more, I have to get rid of some that I have.

Can I donate to ANY library? Will they take them all, or are the selective?

I don't want to be bothered selling on ebay or anything and the Thrift Store in my neighborhood actaully has too many books Chat Icon and won't take them.

I will post some of the popular ones to give you ladies first crack. Chat Icon

ETS: I am not selling them, I am giving them away.

Re: Getting Rid of Books

My library takes most books, they sell them sometimes at book sales at the library to make some funds.

Re: Getting Rid of Books

Some libraries will take them at certain times of the year, when they are doing a book sale. Others may be selective about which ones they take, and some take all.

I donate often to the Garden City library - they take books all the time and have shelves in the front of the branch with used books for sale all of the time too.

Re: Getting Rid of Books

see if there is not a local book swap if the library won't take them. Also I know my aunt has a book donation to her church. She is in Bay Shore, but there must be others if that is not convenient.

If you don't have anyone to doante them to I will take them ;-D

Maybe St. Vincent DePaul? Or if your church/synagogue has a white elephant sale

Re: Getting Rid of Books

The Strand will buy them from you-- I sold a bunch a couple of years ago before a move-- it was nice to make a couple bucks to offset the expense of moving..
