Stupid question..but I don't know anything, really! LOL
As far as renting an apartment (prob in queens/bklyn)...
what bills do pay besides rent (having to due w/the house?)
n what is the cost of them??
we are trying to figure out how much we can afford a month....

depends on what kind of an apartment you rent
if it is in a house...
i paid electric and telephone
when i lived in an apartment complex...just telephone...
but each are complex is different

We currently rent a one-bedroom apartment in a house. We pay for electric and our cable package which includes telephone and internet. Our electric bill is around $35 a month. In the summer it was over $150 because of air-conditioning! Our cable package, I THINK, is about $110.
We also don't have access to a washer/dryer so I drop our clothes/sheets, etc. at a laundromat to be done. That costs us about $25 a week.
Just so you know...I am in Babylon.

We rent a 2 bedroom in the upstairs of a Levit-house. Aside from rent the only thing we have to pay is the phone bill. Cable/water/electric are all included. My landlords also have wireless internet so we don't need internet -- just a wireless adapter on the laptop which ours came with!!!
My husband wants to get satellite and Tivo so we'll have to pay seperate for that.

When we lived in Brooklyn we paid a gas bill (I think it was Keyspan), that was for the gas stove and was about $50 per month, if I remember correctly. The heat and hot water were included in the rent. We also paid an electric bill (Con Edison), which was about $100 per month - again, I'm guessing b/c I don't exactly remember. And of course a phone bill.
