Anyone hear of the dog that got electricuted( sp) just walking on cement in queens?
Not for nothing, Im not a big city person but all these shocks that are going around- the young girls the other day in times square now this dog but the dog died, its not making me run into the city now either too.
Anyone else wonder just how safe it is to stroll the streets in the city?
and it doesnt have to be a metal plate you step on, the dog was on concrete cement that got shocked and died, pretty scary!

I heard of that and I want to say there was a third instance of someone getting shocked recently.
This is not something I am going to worry about. I really think the chance of getting shocked is so slim that I just can't. Think of the number of people that walk around manhattan every single day compared to the number of these shocking incidents. I imagine, this is also something that could happen anywhere there are electrical lines running under ground, not just in Manhattan.

How exactly can it happen?
something about a main power line under the concrete from an old street lamp or light that used to be on the street. very scary, they said anyone or anything that stepped on that spot would die, con ed is looking into it. the man said he is upset that he lost his family pet and also worried that what if his son was with them and he stepped on that spot?

Its happening a little too often lately. 3 incidents in 2 weeks?

I realize that, I just think the odds our in our favor. And since I have to walk on the floor ithis is one of those things I can't dwell on.

I agree. This is one of the reasons I avoid metal plates on sidewalks and streets - I also try not to walk on those basement doors in the city (the metal doors in the sidewalk in front of stores). I think electrified concrete is pretty rare.

I rarely go into the city anymore but I am jobhunting there and in LI. What can I do to protect myself. Not walk on anthing metal?
