Strange (I think) cat question

My kitty Shadow is 6 1/2 years old. She has been an indoor cat her whole life. When I lived in my apartment it was bordered by 3 busy streets so it was for her own saftey she became an indoor cat. Close to a year ago, just before my wedding, we moved from the apartment into a house. It was a huge adjustment for her obviously, but she did acclimate rather nicely and quickly to her new surroundings.

Lately, she's been "acting out" two weeks ago, she peed on our new couch downstairs, when her litter box is in the next room (she has NEVER) gone outside her litterbox. Now the past two weeks, she is DESPARATELY trying to get out of the house. This morning, she got into the garage when I was leaving work and it took me 20 minutes to coax her out from under my car. Everytime I'm outside, by myself or with DH she sits by the back door and cries and cries until I come in, and then she blocks the door so she can run outside. Of course the 2 times she's gotten out the past couple of weeks, she's terrified because she doesn't know what to do once she gets there, so it's easy for me to scoop her up and bring her back in.

I have a Vet appointment for her tonight on another issue, so I'll talk to the dr then, but was wondering why her behavior would change all the sudden like this?

did another cat live in the house before? maybe she smells another animal and is afraid?
