Tired of the single life....

I am recently divorced (almost final) and have been living this single life since the summer (had one 4 month relationship). I was with my ex since out of college so this is the first time I am living alone and single.

I am now finding myself burnt out and tired of having to make plans all the time and dating. I am so sad and lonely the last 2 days...I have made no plans but feel so alone. I can't find any guys I actually like...i can find ones to date and hang with but none i want to spend real time with.

I don't have choice about this life I have now...just don't know how to pick myself up and keep trudging through.

I would enjoy this time so much more if I knew 100% I would meet a great guy to share my life with at some point.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Trust me, You WILL meet a great guy at some point. There's no knowing for sure when that will be is all. It took me six years after my divorce...but fate is fate and I am happier than I ever thought I would be now.

Stop looking so hard, once you come comfortable with where you are and who you are... at that point in time the pieces will then start to fall into place..until then try to take comfort in friends and family! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

You will meet somebody great. And if you don't, it doesn't have to be bad. As long as you have friends and family that you love close to you. You can be alone without being lonely. Find something that you LOVE to do to occupy your time.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think you need to take a break from "dating." Being single can be a wonderful experience. I had a lot of fun being single in my mid 20's. I went out, went on vacation with friends, took up hobbies I always wanted to do. I think you should take this time to get to know you and learn to be comfortable with yourself. The great guy is out there....he's just waiting for you to be ready. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I agree, after my divorce - I totally threw myself into my home, redecorating ( to go along with changes in my life) traveling,reading,catching-up with "old" friends.
I had no desire to make new friends just improve on the relationships w/ the ones I already had. I did NOT do the bar/dating scene & it was through "old friends" that I met my DH.
I am so happy now & you will be too. Nothing happens overnight..don't rush it. I'm sorry you feel lonely but take this time to work on & splurge on yourself..Mr.Right can be anywhere.

There is no such thing as wasting time. If you need time to yourself- take it. The best thing that you can do is be good to yourself. Once that happens, you will meet someone- even if you're not looking. I met my DH at the beach when i was there with a friend- no makeup, no shower, messy hair on the top of my head. Just be good to yourself! Do you what you need! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Tired of the single life....

have you tried on line dating? Danielle and I met on match.com

After you weed out all the crazies, I am sure you will find someone......

I wish I knew someone for you....

Keep your head up. Single life is not always bad. Its nice to have time for yourself and your family and friends. The important thing is to keep busy with your social life, work, etc....Enjoy yourself.

I met my husband when I was 34 Chat Icon Spending time on yourself and growing as a person is never a waste of time, IMO. You may just need some time to figure out what you want Chat Icon

I have been on Jdate. I have met many many people there...just no one I can see myself with. Great guys none the less...but since getting divorced, I am really clear about who I am and what I want in a partner. I actually met the guy I dated on there for 4 months.

I didn't mention it but I have been out on a few dates with this guy...he's a doctor. He is great...instant chemistry and connection...but his schedule is hectic as you can imagine. So I am trying to figure out my next move...give it more time...or date some more. I stopped dating others to see where this was going.

Thanks for all the support! My social life has been great...i guess it's just tiring after a while and I get overwhelmed. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Hang in there... I've known SO many successful stories on JDate. In fact, I've been to 2 weddings from people who met on JDate and have two more coming up. Two of the girls who are getting married were on Jdate for 2 years and had gone on over 50 dates and were just about to give up when they met the "one". AND, I met my hubby on Jdate... he was divorced, in his thirties and frustrated with the single life. And then he met me Chat Icon

It's great that you are getting out there, but you may find it helpful to take breaks from dating. It can be very emotionally draining, I went through it myself. I was 31 when I met DH and I went through phases where I was out a lot, and then I needed to take some time off.

In fact, I was at an all-time low, totally discouraged, and my last few dates were seriously the worst ever. I told myself that if my 3 month eHarmony membership didn't yield anything, I was taking a LOONNNG break. And that was when I met DH. Chat Icon

I also know about 5 couples who met on j-date who are now happily married.

But I also see nothing wrong with taking some time to yourself if you feel you need it. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
