I need work help...talking behind my back

One of the managers here has a problem with me. I work in HR and he is in Office Services. We basically have to collaborate on a lot of projects. My friend works in OS and he's her boss. She told me he always says how high and mighty I am etc etc....but the truth is he does not know me. No one else says that about me. For some reason, he has a problem with me specifically.

I don't want to jeapordize my friend but I also won't tolerate talking about me. This is the same guy who tried to blame me for a lot of his mistakes.

Help! What do I do?

i wouldn't say anything - -you'd get your friend in trouble and plus, it's your word against his, unless you have something in writing

I hate when people do things like that! I would be the bigger person and ignore it.

You could always say that you were wondering if you may have offended him in some way & wanted to clear the air.

If he says no or why would you say that, you could say "I just get sense of these things. I value your opinion and since we collaborate on a lot of projects, I need to make sure we're on the same page."

Then - honestly evaluate your interactions with him. It could be that you're expressing your opinions or may be critical of his opinions. Or it could be that he's just an Azz & can't stand authority.
