HELP!!! Anyone in the Mental Health Field?
I need an internship PRONTO (starting late August) for my masters. It's for the new licensure that the state just past in January (Mental Health Counselor) and I'm getting my masters at Queens College.
It's really really difficult at this point for me to find one. I've called a number of places and cannot find anything.  Does anyone have any leads, ideas, contacts - anything at all, that might help?
God I miss private schools

I know when I was in grad school, some of the Catholic schools would take someone on, if you were looking for an unpaid internship. I also was able to do some hours in a YMCA - all not in NY, though.

Any other suggestions would be great too!
I am not sure if they all do, but it would be worth looking into - also try YWCA.
Check with Catholic Charities - they have a huge # of social service programs and I am sure some include mental health counseling.
I am going to FM you about something else.

This is a long list of agencies here on long Island you could start calling. This is how I got my first job out of grad school, I think I called almost every single one of them.
Good luck. Let me know if you hear anything. I have interviewed or had some dealings with a lot of these agencies too.
