i think usually a month or two before the baby is due...but it can be more due to where the mom lives/family lives/ or other considerations!

Thanks, the reason I am asking is that I saw that some people who are due a month before me (beg. of Jan.) had already sent out invitations, and I didn't even register yet, so I was just checking!

I will be almost 31 weeks shy by 2 days.
surprise?? NO freakin way!!!! As you get bigger and uncomforable who wants to be surprised? you want to be comfortable and knowing when it is you are able to prepare yourself- get rest, shop for the dress etc.

A month before the due date. Unfortunately the baby had other plans & arrived at 34 weeks. It all worked out. Luckily my SIL bough my car seat & brought it to the hospital.
I'd suggest 6-8 weeks beforehand if you're worried about going early.

I've never been to a surprise baby shower. Is that a regional thing?
My showers are going to be mid-October - 2 months before I'm due. A little early compared to most but I'm flying back for them and I don't think I'll be comfortable doing that any later.

I registered 2 weeks before the invites went out, I dont think they will be discontinued. didnt register for clearance or seasonal. I am due in dec but my shower is in oct so invites are out yes, they have 8 weeks to rsvp.
I didnt register too early then I see what you mean.

I have no idea when I am having mine. I don't even knwo if my mom did invites yet. We are just having something small in her house, I think. I saw that someone bought me one thing, but nothing has come off my registry since. I will be 29 weeks.

I'm due on January 1st and my shower is at the end of September. The reason it is so early is because Oct-Dec are busy months for both of our families and most of the guests are OOT so traveling in Dec wouldn't be a good thing. Most of my friends have them 2 months before.
ETA: I'll be 26 weeks and I am already registered.

I will be 27 weeks at mine. I am due end of December and my shower will be at the end of Sept/beg of Oct. I am having it early b/c I'll be flying to Miami for mine and I did not want to fly later on.
Oh and I'm already registered.
