Bare minerals

So I got all excited about buying bare minerals and talked to the girl at ulta who helped me find the right shade and showed me how to put it on, but when i got home and went to put it on myself after taking a shower i dont think it looks all that amazing or different from other makeup Chat Icon I think it may be due to not buying the right brush. The girl said she actually wasnt a fan of the bareminerals brushes so she showed me the real hair one that she bought and uses, but it was $28.50 which was more than the makeup. So, I found a cheap $5 brush and I think I should have just sprung for the more expensive brush. Funds are low though and I didnt want DH to freak out on me too much for spending so much in ulta. Any helpful hints??

I've definately found that the cheaper brushes don't apply as well as the better ones. I guess that's why they have their own brushes.

I'm asking my mom to get me that makeup for my birthday. I guess I'll splurge and get the brushes for myself.

I def thnk that with mineral makeup, it's all about the brushes!

I bought a few BE brushes on eBay. all of them are the real deal. maybe you should try that... I saved quite a bit of $ that way.

Re: Bare minerals

Well I used their brushes and I was really very disappointed in it as well... I didn't notice any difference and actually thought it looked worse than my normal cover up.. I like a heavier cover up and that stuff was way too light & natural for me.

Re: Bare minerals

I use their brush and am quite happy...

did you do it right after the shower?
did you moisturize first, that is a HUGE deal.

Maybe you didn't use enough?

Re: Bare minerals

Their brushes are really needed to get the right application. I got some from e-bay- again real deal, for a great price!

Me too.... I thought I was the only one who didn't care for it at all. I keep buying it thinking I will like it, but twice now I've been disappointed.

Re: Bare minerals

I to was disappointed with Bare Minerals. I couldn't wait to use it. To me I didn't look any diff than I normally did. In fact I looked like I wasn't wearing any make up at all. I returned everything.

Re: Bare minerals

I wasn't a big fan either and I have their brushes. I much prefer my foundation, which is Mary Kay.

Re: Bare minerals

I think without their brushes mine always looks worse...always.

The brushes are worth the money and it also takes practice.

At first I thought I looked the same too, till I realized after a few weeks of use how much more I liked how I looked.

Re: Bare minerals

try sheer cover, my friend's next door neighbor is a make-up artist for celebrities (is Julia Roberts' personal make up artist on shoots), and she likes sheer cover better than BE, it is easier to apply and is more natural looking, I just bought it and I love it!

Re: Bare minerals

I didn't like it at first either. I have very problematic skin and I think I was expecting a miracle.
Keep playing with it. I found that if you apply too much it tends to settle in your pores and look bad.
Try blotting your face with a tissue after you apply it to remove some of the excess.
After some practice,I now love it.

I agree - I think with BM less is more. If I go too heavy, it doesn't look good. I also tried using it with an oil free moisturizer and that also helps.

Re: Bare minerals

Also- I find that you need to let your moisturizer soak in for a while before applying- that makes a difference too.
I will put my moisturizer on then do other things for a few minutes before putting the Bare Minerals on- to give it a chance to absorb into my skin.

Re: Bare minerals

I agree with the other posts; you have to buy the brushes. QVC has some great packages. The sell them with the brushes and with the vitamin face primer. I find the make-up stays on longer when I use the primer followed by a moisturizer.

It definitely takes practice.

Also, the starter kit comes with a video. I had to watch that first to get a hang of it.
