Asthma

Do any of you have asthma? If so, do you take anything preventative like Serevent?

Re: Asthma

i have taken albuterol only as needed. i had a nasty cold/flu in my 1st trimester and didn't want to take anything but couldn't breathe.

my dr. prescribed albuterol and pulmacort if needed. i stuck with albuterol for a few days, never touched the pulmacort.

Re: Asthma

I am not pregnant yet but actively TTC. I have been asthmatic since age 2, with it worsening as I got into my 20s.

For the past two years I have been taking Singulair tablets, albuterol inhaler as needed and Advair. The Advair, more than anything, changed my life, seriously. It works amazingly well. I know that with pregnant women, inhalers are preferable because only a small amount of the meds get into the bloodstream, as opposed to prednisone, etc. (Advair is, I believe, a combination of Serevant and a steroid.)

The Singulair does not make a lot of difference with my asthma but it helps my nasal allergies a lot. But if I have to stop it when I do get pregnant, it won't be a big deal.

Re: Asthma

As my doctor told me you have to be breathing right for your baby to. So the puffers are fine!

Thank you all for your replys. I am on Serevent Diskus. My doctor had the same response, "you have to breathe, right?" I just wanted to make sure she wasn't the only one and i will be OK!
