Jenna's new habit-need advice

Okay Jenna's new habit is pulling her diaper off when she is in the crib-I have had 3 episodes where I have gotten her from sleep/nap and the crib sheet is full of pee and she is butt naked. The other day topped the cake, I got her from a nap and she was naked (out of a onesie and feetie pj's)-dirty diaper off and poo ALL over herself and the cribChat Icon She was actually holding a clean diaper which she was able to reach from her diaper holder thingy on the side of her crib and was saying "ohhhh, mommy, dirty, poopies".
What should I be doing-duct taping her diapers closed????? This is getting to be a lot f laundry and a lot of mess!!!!

If you put pj shorts on her, can she pull them off? My son used to do this and the only way I could stop him from doing that was by having shorts/pants on him.

Re: Jenna's new habit-need advice

this may be a long shot, but maybe she is ready to potty train? She may not like the "feel" of a dirty diaper anymore.

My husband did the duct tape the other night and it worked! I actually think she is ready for potty training too though-we have one in the living room and she calls it her pee-pee chair. I put her on it a few times during the day and she has peed in it once-I guess it's time to move foward with more serious training.

Oh boy - do I have this to look forward to? She is so cute holding a clean diaper. One day you'll look back at this and laugh. Chat Icon

I agree with TJ/Mom Again. I've heard that taking off her diaper is the first sign of potty training readiness.

My friend had to do the same thing with the duct tape for her son. The poo incident was the last straw for her.

Sounds to me like she is ready for potty training. Check out Dr. Phil's website, he has an article about potty training in one day. He swears it works. It is a whole day dedicated to potty training, with potty parties, stickers, etc. Good luck!
