How much do you pay a babysitter
for two kids...my daughters are 19 months and almost 3 1/2 months old.

My sister is 17 and babysits for a few families and gets between $8-11/hr depending on how many kids they have and the ages.
Sooo different from when I used to babysit a family of 4 young kids for $3.25/hr!!!

We pay my mom $10 an hour to watch Miranda during the week when I work. Other times we don't pay her. I know if she didn't actually need the money she wouldn't take it but she does this to help us instead of having a PT job.

holy cow!!! I used a non-family babysitter this week for the first time and struggled with how much to pay her. She is the 16 year old daughter of a coworker who has never babysat before. We picked her up and drove her home. I asked her what she wanted to be paid. After alot of thinking she said $10. I thought she meant $10/hour but she meant just $10. I found out from her mother that her friend at school does charge $10/hour but since it was only for 3 hours they (mom and babysitter) agreed just to ask for $10. I thought that was too low so I wound up giving her $20 and she was thrilled.
I dont know if I would ever hire a babysitter if it was $10/hour. That is insane!!!

That is exactly why we don't use a babysitter. You go out for 4 hours, $40 for the babysitter, $50 for dinner and $20 for a movie....over $100 for a simple night out!

$10/hr.
A night out in the city last month cost us $80 for a sitter, $400 for theatre tickets, $100 for dinner, $30 parking.  Needless to say, we won't be doing THAT too often.

I pay my niece $30 to watch my daughter when we decide to go out. Most of the time when we go out my daughter is already asleep. If she isn't available I use my neighbors daughter and I will pay her a bit more since she needs the money for college and is CPR certified also is studying to be a pediactric nurse so its worth it. I will give her like $40 I use her more during the day if I have soemthing to do that I can't take my daughter with me
