Prcoess for checking your credit? Anyone know?
We are fearful that we have been victims of identity theft, anyone know the wbsites to request the reports, I beleive there are 2 companies, but their names are escaping me is it Equifax and ?. TIA

go under annualreports.com...its free to get all three of the above reports. I just did it last week and you can print on your computer.

FreeCreditReport.com
I just did this recently. It's free for one month. You'll obtain your credit rating, all outstanding credit cards, etc. You get it immediately. Keep in mind that it's only free for one month. If you don't cancel it in 30 days, they charge you $13.00.

Also you can go on Privacyguard.com-It is a free trial for 3 mos(make sure you write down when to cancel otherwise they will charge your card 79.95) this is a great way to monitor your credit daily for no charge. Also like the other poster said-you are entitled to one free credit report a year at free annual creit report.com I think?

The law in NY now requires each credit bureau to give you one free report each year.
Go to www.annualcreditreport.com. You don't have to worry about cancelling anything. All you do is fill out a form.

Another tip I read: since you get free reports from all 3 companies, once a year, spread them out. In other words, instead of getting them all now, get one now, then in 4 months, get the free report from the 2nd company, and then 4 months later, the free report from the 3rd company. that way, you have several opportunities throughout the year to check your credit for free.
