does anyone know anything about a reality show being taped in Ocean Beach this summer?
I heard a rumor that one was being taped - but no other details - anyone know anything about it?

I was at dinner tonight and everyone said they heard about it - something about a share with like 8 people in Fire Island. I want to know about it - this is how DH and I met (hence the name  ).

Ok found something online, doesn't look like its even going to happen:
After just two weekends of filming, HBO pulled the plug on a reality-based show about five gay men sharing a summer house in the Pines on Fire Island. According to some subjects of the film, HBO executive VP of original programming Sheila Nevins halted production because she felt that adverse community reaction was preventing the filmmakers from gaining access to Fire Island's "real" gay social scene.

May 4, 2006 -- FIRE Island will get the reality treatment when ABC's "Summer Share" begins filming - when else? - over Memorial Day weekend.
The six-part series, courtesy of Bunim-Murray Productions ("The Real World," "Laguna Beach") will be the first series set on Fire Island - the summer playground on Long Island's South Shore notable for its ban on motorized vehicles.
On the show, eight-to-10 people will live together in a summer house, with camera crews tracking their daily interactions (the usual reality-show formula).
Sasha Alpert, Bunim-Murray's VP of casting, says Fire Island was chosen over the Hamptons - the area's other summer hotspot - for several reasons.
"When you think of the Hamptons, you think of people dressing up and going out to clubs. Here, you think of people letting loose, kicking back and hanging out in their houses," she says.
"It's a much more relaxed, let-your-hair-down atmosphere - it's like an adult fantasy playland.
"And Fire Island is really different than any other geography . . . it's such a fantasy world, and you really don't think of it as being in New York," she says.
"It's really an amazing place. You have ocean access everywhere, and there aren't any private beach clubs like in other places.
"It's got an open, relaxed feeling that you don't get when you have to get into a car."
Bunim-Murray will hold a casting call for "Summer Share" Saturday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) at DIP Bar (416 3rd Ave., between 29th and 30th).
"I think we're looking for people who normally go out and have a summer share, for people in that age group - definitely over 21 and into their early 30s," Alpert says.
So will "Summer Share" include the backstabbing, in-your-face conflict usually associated with shows of this ilk?
"Some of that is inevitable, but that wouldn't take up much more than one episode," Alpert says.
"I always thought of Fire Island as very romantic and beautiful - the sunsets are just stunning, and it's for people looking for what everyone would consider the romantic image of the perfect summer experience."
Filming on "Summer Share" will continue until around July 4. ABC hasn't announced an airdate.

We are casting for Summer Share on ABC to be filmed on Fire Island! If you live in or around NYC and would like to spend your weekends on the beach (and have us pick up the tab) then come to our OPEN CALL in Manhattan.
