Is this in the city? Are you going to walk around after dinner or do you want to go straight to the show? I would choose 5pm if you want to walk around. Chat Icon

I think 5.30 is plenty early. If you are eating near the theater I would push it to 6.00.

If you're going right in the theatre district, 5:30 is fine. Just let the waitress know you have tickets. If you're going further, 5:00 would be better.

Whenever I go to an 8pm show, we usually eat at 6 or even 6:30 if the restaurant is close to the theater.
All those restaurants around there are accustomed to theater-goers & usually get you out pretty fast.

My parents were in there on Saturday, and they found an adorable little italian place on restaurant row called Capri. Prix Fixe, $20ish a person - included soup or salad, choice of 10 or so italian dishes, and dessert. (46th street).

They had dinner at 6 15 for a 8 show.

Where's your theatre?

michi if you are going on a saturday night, 5/5:30 is fine

you're gonna get the crowd coming out of the matinees, so service will be slower. This will give you enough time

Do you know where you are going to dinner? If you are there by 6 that should be plenty of time.
