"Sellers are offering perks like car leases and granite countertops to drum up interest. If that fails, they may try to sell for less than they owe on the home."

Has anyone seen any "incentives" offered around here?
I know some are offering to pay closing costs...

Anything you've noticed?

intersting because one open house we saw was offering closing costs, repaving the driveway and new windows on the first floor. And they were leaving for Florida in September, wonder if that's why

I haven't seen any incentives... paying closing costs alone would be a great incentive, IMO forget the Benz or vacations, etc.

Down here they pay CC, leave appliances including washers & Dryers, blinds, etc. Will professionally clean the house and make any repairs too. Re-sales will do anything to sell.

Before I sold my condo the real estate agency tried to convince me to offer incentives such as paying the management fees for a year. I didnt agree though. Thank god.

I think up here appliances and blinds are typically left for the buyer. My house was professionally cleaned as well. I WISH that i could have gotten the buyer to pay our closing costs!

Yes I saw an ad in the paper last week- it was for new construction houses though- if you bought one of the houses you got a free Mercedes.

I think it's typical up here too. My house was also professionally cleaned...and I felt awful that it was since we had our bathroom gutted (and the farkwads didn't put anything up to block off the hallway when they demo'd) and the floors refinished. Chat Icon

Re: When Homeowners are desperate to sell...(MSN Article)

Just saw a house listed near us that was giving two roundtrip ticket to HI away to the buyer. I thought that was really random, cheesy and weird.
