Laminate Flooring
Posted this in LIW:
Thinking about installing laminate flooring in my co-op over hard wood floors due to wear and tear on the hard wood. Would it be a good idea to do so financially speaking or should I redo the floors?
It seems like the hardwood floors are falling apart. There are a couple of holes (not big, but nevertheless, holes) in the wood in some areas and uneven wood in others (like indenttations). If I do refinish the floors will they (refinishers) fix these problems? If not, this is why I am thinking about laminating. Brand new wood floors would be just too expensive and frankly, Im not sure I want to spend that kind of money while I live in the co-op. Decisions, decisions.....

Re: Laminate Flooring
I did laminate flooring in part of my co-op over the existing hardwood floors.
The hardwood floors in this section were in BAD shape because the idiot owner before me decided to lay down these huge marble tiles. And they did a crap job doing it. The hardwood floor below that was in very bad shape... probably too bad to refinish.
I ripped them up and had someone come in to lay down laminate. It came out real good... much better than the tile. I carpeted the rest of the apartment.

Re: Laminate Flooring
I don't see why not... you lay down a layer of padding between the existing floor and the laminate flooring... the floor has to be even though.
