Getting gifts and what they mean

what means more to u....a gift of value or something from the heart.

to me, something from the heart means so much more. i love all the gifts that i get. something from the heart means more...meaning the person put a lot of thought in it.

Re: Getting gifts and what they mean

I prefer gifts to be from the heart. I like to know that someone thinks enough of me to spend time finding something for me that they think I'll really love.

Re: Getting gifts and what they mean

definitely from the heart.

both my grandmas are still alive - my one grandma (who we live with, btw), only gives me monetary or stuff gifts. The other grandma is not as well off as the first, but she always gets me really thoughtful gifts. She taught me how to sew, cook, bake, iron, etc.

Looking back on my childhood, even though my one grandma always got me a new outfit, we never really did anything together. I cherish the days I spent with grandma number 2, she taught me so much!

Definitely from the heart. I had an ex-boyfriend that would have 2 dozen roses delivered to my office every 2 weeks. I know this sounds horrible but he had a standing order at a florist, never had to call them or change the card. It always said "Love, Xxxxxx" I realize this is going to sound b!tchy. It lost its meaning. After we broke up, the guy I was dating was working nights. He drove to the flower district just to get me flowers. It truly is the thought that counts.

Re: Getting gifts and what they mean

I really appreciate gifts from the heart more - and that's what I try to give. Except for one of my sisters in law, who was like, "I know you try to be creative, but really what I want is a gift card to Fortunoffs so I can get what I want...or buy me something off this list, so its not a waste." She gets zero thought into her gifts now, it bugs me, but its also easier. Chat Icon

Re: Getting gifts and what they mean

I like gifts from the heart a lot more. It shows me that the person really knows me and that they cared enough to take the time to choose I gift I would like. That is the kind of gift giver I am. I wish more people in my life would be the same way.

I don't discriminate - I love all gifts. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Kidding. My most prized possession and most heartfelt gift is something that cost under $5. When my DH and I started dating we would always love to go to the beach and takes walks. We had this one beach we would go to and always called it our special beach. I went away to school and we had a long distance relationship for a while and he went to a dollar store or somewhere and got a small glass vase with a topper and filled it with sand from our beach. So he said I can look at it and always think of our special place when I was far away. I still have it on my desk 8 years later and love it so much. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Getting gifts and what they mean

I love gifts from the heart. It means so much to me. My favorite gifts are my precious moments from my DH. They can be costly but it's the real meanings behind them. I get one every year for christmas. The one I get has something to do with our lives of that year. My first one from him was the year we got engaged. It was a boy proposing to a girl. The second I got was a bride to be since we were planning our wedding. Christmas 2004 I got a boy and girl playing in the sand building a house since that was the year we moved into our home and Christmas 2005 I got a girl with a puppy since that was the year we got our dog. It's the thought the search I know he puts into it and I cry every time I open the box.

My co-worker loves to crochet and anytime something special happens she always makes something. I told her when it comes time for secret santa I want her to cheat and pull my name because I know she'll crochet something for me and I know it will really come from her heart.
