Spinoff-size at birth and heredity
I hope heredity has nothing to do with it becaue my mom had 4 kids, 3 of them weighing over 9 lbs. I was the smallest, 7lbs 8oz. My younger brother was 10lbs. At his first check up he was 17lbs

Re: Spinoff-size at birth and heredity
My mom had read somewhere that there is a correlation between birth weight on the dad's side which I definitely hope is inaccurate because DH was almost 10lbs!

I hope not. MIL had all her children early...as in 2.5 pounds...I would prefer them to stay in and cook a little longer.

Re: Spinoff-size at birth and heredity
DH was less than 6 pounds and I was 10lb 6oz and our daughter was 8lbs. She was delivered vaginally and it was no problem watsoever.

Re: Spinoff-size at birth and heredity
I had read somewhere that you average the mother's and father's birth weight to estimate the approximate weight of the baby. I don't know how accurate this is, and for me and DH I don't think it will work because both of our mothers smoked while PG, which can cause low birth weight anyway (I was only 6 pounds -- full term and DH was just about 8 pounds full term). The doc told me yesterday my baby is 6 pounds already (at 35 weeks).
