claiming mileage expenses for IUI's and IVf??
I saw this on another message board that you can claim your travel expenses for having blood/sono's done when going through IUI's and IVF.
Anyone hear of this or know that it is true??

Yes, its true
Standard mileage rate.
The standard mileage rate allowed for operating expenses for a car when you use it for medical reasons is:
15 cents a mile from January 1 to August 31, 2005, and
22 cents a mile from September 1 to December 31, 2005.

If I had know, than I would have done that.
I guess I can go back to all my statements from my insurance comp. and calculate from there, but dont know ha many miles it is from Coram to Plainview....anyone know??
I meet with my accountant this Wednesday so I better get moving on it.

Just want to add that you can only deduct medical expenses that are more than 7.5% of your adjusted gross income.

Good to know as my RE is about 30 miles away... I think I had about 15 visits last year and only started going in late September.

Your total out of pocket medical and dental expenses (includes copays) must exceed 7.5% of your AGI...the amt over that is what you can write off.
