CPR update- new recommendations!
I just took my re-cert yesterday and hopefully no one needs to ever use this but if yiu do... the American heart association changed the breaths from 1 to 2 for every set of chest compressions. these are 2 long heavy breaths. They also no longer suggest hitting on the back between the shoulder blades if a child is choking, bend thm forward and then hit thembelow the shoulder blades in an upward stroke.
I hope none of us ever need this but just wanted to give an update since this is a new modification.

Actually I was always taught 2 breaths between compressions. I have to recertify next month so I'll find out for sure then but the nurse educator at my job told me they now recommend 30 compressions for every 2 breaths vs. 15:2
ETA: Sorry I just realized you were talking about child CPR. I was thinking of adult!

yup, 2 breaths to 30 compresions! They want at least 100 compressions per minute.
I was re-certified at work, I work at a hospital. It's mandatory that I know CPR.
