Not sure if this is a pregnancy or parenting question...

If you don't want to find out the sex of the baby BUT you want the room to be "pink" or "blue" can you paint AFTER the baby is born? Granted the baby is not in the room but has anyone gotten the nursery ready AFTER the baby was born?

TIA

Most of the time people keep their newborn in their bedroom for the first few weeks/months...so that would give you plenty of time to paint it after he/she is born!Chat Icon

I have not done this...but, if you can have the baby sleep in your room in a basinet or a crib for a while...why not be able to paint the room in pink or blue?

I totally think you'd be able to do it this way...

I would just be worried with the fumes from the paint you know?

I don't think it would be an issue if you are going to keep the baby in your room (most people do) for the first few weeks. You can leave the window open in the baby's room so it airs out.

We painted the room a neutral shad of sage green and got neutral bedding but we added pink touches-picture frames, wooden letters of name in pink after Jenna was born.

you could always have the room painted while you're still at the hospital.

My family doesn't bring in anything baby related to the house until the baby is born healthy

Just make sure that the house is well ventilated...keep some windows open!

Yes! We hardly ever use her room yet. Sometimes for changing but definitely not for sleeping.
So if you are like most and will have the baby in the basinette in your room you will have tons of time to do the nursery. Well not you but maybe DH and some helpers.
