Ahhh, Men. Sometimes they mean well....
but can't get it right anyway. 
Bday is Sunday - I know Rich already bought me a diamond heart charm for my naked charm bracelet ...I picked it out months ago.
So yesterday, he tells me that he ALSO got tix to see RENT again, ON my birthday! He knows I don't really want to see Rent again, but it was the only show that was open on 2/12 matinee. SO he spent $200 on the tix  They're at the 1/2 price booth every single day! It kills me that he spent so much money (with the train, and dinner, etc) for something that was soooo unnecessary. He didn't even use the discount code for $70 tix - he paid the full price. The seats are lousy (all the way off to 1 side), AND I always spend my birthday with my whole family - go to dinner, etc. Now I can't.
We were JUST discussing the other day how excited I was to just stay IN for a day...we've been go go go the past few weeks and I was welcoming the break. NOW we have to go to the city! 
I reallllly don't want to go, but how the heck are we going to get rid of those tix with 4 days notice?

no lack of communication - we picked out my "gift" together.
These tickets were a suprise "extra" - he even said that he knows I don't want to see it again, BUT it was the only show he could get tix for on short notice.

i understand why he did what he did, but he really should have told you about it first...yes, i know, defeats the whole "surprise" element, but its not like he has no idea what you and your family do for your birthday.
