Air France Plane crashed
Jet Catches Fire After Skidding Off Runway at Toronto Airport
Tuesday, August 02, 2005
TORONTO — A passenger jet has caught fire after reportedly skidding off a runway at Toronto's Pearson International Airport. According to reports, black smoke billowed from the wreckage as the aircraft burned.
Police said the plane was an Air France passenger jet that was trying to land when it ran into trouble.
According to reports, the plane had around 200 passengers on board.
A row of emergency vehicles lined up behind the wreckage, and a fire truck sprayed the flames with water. The operation was broadcast live on television in Canada and the United States.
The flaming ruin was next to the four-lane Highway 401, Canada's busiest highway, and some cars and trucks stopped on the roadway after the crash.
There was no immediate word on casualties.

The footage on the news doesn't look good 
I think one of the news stations said the pilot & co-pilot survived. Other witnesses said they thought the plane broke in half during the crash land which may lead to more survivors since they could escape the fire

I heard on the news that since it crashed right next to a highway - some drivers were able to drive survivors to the hospital when they walked to the road

So scary, especially because my parents are coming home from Paris on Thursday. My heart goes out to all the families of the passengers.

That's so upsetting. I hope everyone survived.
I am flying on Sunday and this makes me more anxious than I already am. I hate flying.

You're right! On Cnn.com, it says in red (on top):
BREAKING NEWS: All passengers survive after an Air France jet overruns a Toronto, Canada, runway and bursts into flames, officials said. Details soon.
I'm so glad that there were no casualties!
