I cant believe my IL's
Ok so my IL's for my 30th got me a bracelet for my b-day. it was white gold with all little diamonds going all around it. I didn't love it but its diamonds so it wasn't bad. well it was too big so I brought it to the jeweler to get it sized. I just picked it up today and the jeweler said did u know that those are fake diamonds? I said NO!. he said its a type of glue that shines and gives the effect of diamonds. I couldn't believe it A FAKE BRACLETE? I took that as a slap in the face bc they would NEVER DO THAT to TO any one else in the family. they bought the bracelet from MACYS. I spent $35 on fixing the this bracelet that prob only cost them$ 40. im so annoyed. im actually taking it back to macys and returning it. am I am overreacting? tell me......
PS just so u know my IL's are always generous with there $ and gifts.

um... i dont think its so bad that they got the diamond as fake as long as its set in actual white gold, real diamonds are alot of money--and macys has nice jewelery from what i have seen...im sorry it broke andu had to fix it but i dont think id be mad they didnt get u real diamonds

I wouldn't return it.
If you didn't know that they weren't real, noone else will. If it's nice, then why not keep it?
I would feel a little upset though, but probably would not say anything.

The range for CZ tennis bracelets on the Macy's website is $100-700.
This is the $100
and this is the $700
The cheapest real diamond one at Macy's is $2000--did you really think it was a $2000 gift?
I wouldn't be offended that they spent $100 or that it was fake. They probably wanted to get you something you liked but couldn't spend thousands.
ETA: If it fooled you it must not be an awful fake...

If they led you to believe that it was a real diamond bracelet then I would be a little put off...but, if they just gave you the bracelet and no questions asked...then I don't think they did anything wrong.

just so everyone knows it wanst large diamonds by any means but diamond chips. i would never expect my IL's or parents for that matter to spend $$$ on me like that. its just that i really felt that they misled me and bc of our relationship (which is not the best) it was almost them saying that im not worth it but others are. see....?

I agree... I think they only meant well. I can understand why you're upset, but if you like it, and it looks pretty, then I would def keep it!!

I totally understand what you are saying....and yes I would be mad. I think that if they led you to believe that it was real diamond chips then you have every right to be upset.

I can't see how someone would imply that a gift is diamonds...
I hope you didn't get the bracelet fixed to fit you and pay. I would have asked the jewler first if he could take a look at it before he did any work.

Well, if he knows that his dad was bragging the whole time then I would just casually bring it up...like...you know Joe...I went to get this bracelet fixed today and the jeweler told me that it was fake. See what he says...
