Where is the BEST place to buy paint???

This is our next task...and its going to be somewhat of a big job for us. We are going to do it ourselves.

There are many debates about this but most professional painters prefer to use Benjamin Moore.

BM is not sold at Home Depot or Lowes you have to go to an independent neighborhood paint store. Janovic (Wantagh and Hicksville) or Aboff's (East Northport) etc.

I would wait for a sale. We just finished painting my 4 bedroom colonial... 13 rooms in all and 15 paint colors We had to buy 22 (?) 1/2 gallons and that can add up... over $800. for paint. Luckily, we caught a sale for President's week and saved 20% off.

I bought so much paint every time I went in they asked me what my account number was They thought I was a professional painter.

Make sure you buy good quality brushes... you can get these anmd other supplies a lot cheaper at Home Depot.

Benjamin Moore paints and Purdy brushes!
(I also use smaller artist brushes from Michaels when doing detailed molding.)

I agree wait for a sale, I only use BM but its $$$$ 31.99 a gallon and up!!!

For your apartment I would check out Home Depot and buy Behr. Save the $$$ for your house.

I didn't know that it's possible to get BM on sale! We bought all BM for our house last year but my BIL knew someone at a paint store in the Farmingville area and they gave us their trade discount. We were very fortunate. We ended up getting all our paint for $680 but it would have cost close to $1,000 We had to know all the colors we wanted to use because I didn't want to have to go back to take advantage of their discount again, but it was so worth it.

I think you'll find that most paint stores have very helpful and knowledgable staff.

I prefer BEHR to BM, so when we painted our house I used only BEHR. I think BEHR was between $17 and $24 a gallon at Home Depot

Here in NC the most popular is Sherwin Williams. I've had great experiences with them.

Ralph Lauren from Home depot is good too.

We like Sherwin Williams -- nicer than Home Depot brands but not as expensive as Benjamin Moore
