Question regarding putting your baby down to sleep/nap?
Am i doing this right?
When Julia is fussy after her feedings - I know she needs a nap.
Ill cuddle w/her and then put her in her crib. Put the mobile on, tuck her in and leave the room. Ill sometimes giver her the paci - but she really doesn't like it - so sometimes i don't bother.
Ill let her wyne herself to sleep. She will start to cry and slowly she will fall asleep on her own.
Lately it seems - she has been crying herself to sleep everytime- after a couple minutes ill go in there and check up on her - sometimes ill leave stay and comfort her depending on her cries.
Are your children in a similar situation? Is it realistic to think that a child will automatically close their eyes when they are in the crib without a cry? I think this is what i am waiting for. I just feel so bad because she will never automatically fall asleep without crying.
Opinions? TIA.

Re: Question regarding putting your baby down to sleep/nap?
Is she crying or fussing?
It sounds like a comfortable routine to me. It depends what you want. I have let Antonio fuss himself to sleep. Kind of like of "whiny song" if that makes sense.
However I don't really let him cry for too long. If I put him down to early he will cry hysterically. I have to wait till he is ready, so I let him play a little more. Some nights he justs grabs his blanket and closes his eyes. Other nights he tosses and turns and sings.

I do the same as you and sometimes he will whine himself to sleep othertimes he starts to cry and I go get him and try to rock him and sometimes he just stares at the mobile and falls asleep.

My guess is if you keep up the routine, her whines will get less & less as she remembers that when she's put down, it's time for sleep.

That's great! Keep up the good work! She's learning how to self soothe and the whining/crying will either come less or stay about the same to get to sleep.

I think you are doing it right. I don't think there is anything wrong with a little whining/crying before falling off.

sounds good to me. Sydney was realy good for a while with going to sleep and being on a schedule. Now she is throwing us for a loop by changing and we need to find new ways to help her sleep. My husband came up with our latest trick and it really helps - he puts a wet washcloth on her neck and massages her neck with it for a minute and then she is usually out. It's amazing!

It sounds like you are doing it just right to me. My daughter also "whines" when I put her down and we've been doing it for a long time. I just think that's how she soothes herself to sleep. If she cries bad I go in there and try to comfort her before she goes back to sleep. Keep up the routine!
